Five Ways to Enjoy Summer BlueberriesOne of my favorite things about summer besides being off from school, sleeping in, warm weather, sunshine, long walks with the dog, visits with family, time to catch up with my life, and leisurely reading on the porch is fresh picked berries.
In July, I snack on the small wild black raspberries growing nearby that no one seems to pick, but me. My neighbor also lets me pick his beautiful big raspberries. I feel a bit piggish popping handfuls at a time in my mouth day after day, but then again, everyone else leaves them untouched. Every time I ate these yummy treats I reminded myself that besides being nutritious superfoods, fruit, berries, and vegetables picked and eaten within a few hours are an infusion of living light and life energy. What a gift.
This year I got an extra berry surprise. A friend posted a tempting blueberry jam recipe on facebook and a post about a blueberry picking farm. Since I would be driving right past that town anyway, I decided to be adventurous and give it a try. Forty-five minutes of picking yielded over four pounds, some of which ended up right in my mouth!
So what can you do with so many blueberries?
1- Spread a bunch out on a cookie sheet and freeze for a few hours. Bag up and keep in the freezer for enjoying later, or use to make nice cold thick smoothies.
2- Make a batch of this super healthy, quick and easy jam. You may want to double the honey or add a big pinch of stevia to make it sweeter.
3- Top your yogurt, ice cream, pancakes, and waffles with a generous mound of berries.
4 - Cut up watermelon, cantaloupe and/or pineapple and other favorite summer fruits. Add in as many blueberries as you like. Pretty.
5 - Make a blueberry pie or cobbler. Go heavy on the berries and easy on the sugar.
Readers' Favorite Facebook PostsHere are three of the most viewed and liked posts this month.
1- Good rule of thumb - If you wouldn't put it in your mouth, don't put it on your body or in your environment.
Trouble sleeping? Try 1/8th cup dried tart cherries or drink one cup juice about an hour before bedtime to get about 0.3 mg -the amount a study in Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found helped insomniacs get a better night’s sleep. As a bonus, tart cherries may also help relieve gout and inflammatory pain.
3- Summer is a great time to take advantage of the benefits of earthing, or grounding. Simply walk (or sit) barefoot to 'ground' with the Earth. The scientific theory is that your body absorbs negative electrons from the Earth through the soles of your feet. The grounding effect may be one of the most potent antioxidants we know of and may have an anti-inflammatory effect on your body. (source: mercola.com)

Speaking of Google, I will honestly tell you that many sites, including Holistic MindBody Healing, have 'taken a beating' in its search engine over the last few months because of a new mystery algorithm. This is very discouraging to me as I have worked really hard to create a good, helpful site that has now become almost invisible on the world's most popular search engine.
The good news is that I have been making the site easier to navigate on desktop and mobile, and have optimized images so they load faster. Next time, I will tell you more about what's new at HMBH and begin using the site as a springboard for our next series of ezines. I will also share how together we can show Google this is a site we value.
Thank you so much in advance for your support. It is always my goal to bring you common sense, easy, reliable information and techniques that benefit your health and your life. If there is something you would like to see in the ezine or on-site, please reply to this ezine or ask your question in the members area.
