A Note From Val

Happy September!

Wow, has this summer flown by. It doesn't seem real that school started last week. Seeing some of the girls coming in with their pretty dresses and for the most part smiles from all the little ones is always heartwarming. Of course, there are always just a few whose cries for mom or dad echo through the halls. The joys of primary school!

More on Relationships

We have an excellent article in our community pages from Dr. Larry Berkelhammer about the correlation between social support, relationships and health.

There are many things we can do to improve health. You probably already know about the importance of eating a nutrient-dense diet, stress-management, and getting enough daily exercise and sleep.

What you may be less aware of is the association between social connections and health. Humans are meant to be in community, and the degree of community we experience directly correlates to the degree of health we experience. Continue reading and share your thoughts here.

From Our Members

I was so delighted when Riki Renfro emailed me after reading Rescue Me with a story about the relationship between her mother and her dog, and how their family honored both of them at a memorial service.

Thanks, Riki, for sharing your story and giving me permission to share it and Polly's adorable photo on the blog.
