Quick Health Tip - Vitamin D and the SunThe best way to get Vitamin D is from the sun. Winter sun isn't strong enough unless you live in the south (so take Vitamin D3). From May through October most of us can get what we need outside from nature herself. This is what your skin is designed to do.Depending on your skin tone and weight, you'll need 15 minutes to 2 hours or more of sun. Fair skinned and thinner people need less sun than heavier or darker skinned folks. Don't worry about making too much Vitamin D from the sun. Your body has a limit. For best results let your skin build up some natural oils and expose your arms and/or legs (more okay too!) during the time of day when you create a short shadow. It's okay to get very light pink but do not burn. You need to go outside since windows block Vitamin D forming rays (as do most sunscreens).
