Daily Positive Affirmation

Using a daily positive affirmation is a popular way to consciously condition and reprogramming the subconscious mind. It's a lovely way to shift your thoughts and focus to what's positive and possible.

The goal of a daily affirmation is to get your subconscious to accept your suggestions so it will attract and manifest what you want.

Louise Hay's book, Heal Your Body made healing affirmations popular. In this book, she provides a mental cause for physical illness and a metaphysical way to overcome it using a daily affirmation.

For example, the mental cause of coughing is a desire to bark at the world in order to be seen and heard. The healing affirmation is "I am noticed and appreciated in the most positive ways. I am loved."

Whether you agree with the specific causes and affirmations for each condition or not, it's definitely worth your time and effort to explore possible causes for your illness and craft a daily positive affirmation that will help you heal.

Tips for Using Healing Affirmations

These tips apply to any type of affirmation.
  • Use positive words when forming your healing affirmation. The subconscious tends to ignore words such as no and not.

  • Use words that describe what you desire.

  • Use present tense words. This isn't telling lies to yourself, it is stating what you desire as if you already are receiving it.

  • If you do not believe, you will not receive. Remember that superconscious mind powers are not limited by time and space.

  • Be attuned to your inner talk. Listen to what you tell yourself when you say or see your daily positive affirmation. If a negative statement follows, no matter how fleetingly, you can be sure that this is the truth your subconscious hears and believes.

  • If you are making these negative tail-ender statements to yourself, revise your affirmation to something you can believe. Small positive steps are better than none, or worse yet, reinforcing the negative and experiencing the nocebo effect.

  • Another option for tail-enders is to use a meridian tapping technique such as EFT to eliminate the tail-ender.

  • Really focus on your positive affirmation as you repeat it at least three times. Say it slowly, hypnotically, with belief and positive emotion. And/Or...

    Sing your daily affirmation and/or tap it in using EFT tapping.

  • Your daily positive affirmation can be one meaningful word, a short phrase, or a longer prayer. What matters is that it is positive and meaningful to you.

  • Make multiple copies of your affirmation and place them in strategic places such as your car, office and around your house. Place these visual reminders near your bed so you can repeat it before sleep and right after waking. Do this even if you have your affirmation memorized.

  • Do you want to add more "umph" to your healing affirmations? Combine your daily affirmation with visualization.
