How to Visualize and Use Affirmations
In part one, you learned how to visualize and use affirmations. The following steps can help turn those images and statements into reality. - Be open to possibilities.
- One of the benefits of knowing how to visualize and use manifesting techniques is that they can help you open new doors.
Check in with your inner guidance to see if you are on track. Don't limit yourself because situations don't unfold the way you think they should. The power of visualization and affirmations is that they take us in directions. You may end up with something even better than you hoped. - Be aware of the quick and quiet voice that reminds you of your goal.
- As your affirmations and visualizations become ingrained in your thought processes, you'll know it.
Your in the moment decisions and behaviors will either strengthen or weaken the energy of the new program you are installing. When you give in to negative thinking, inaction or another cookie you weaken the power of the new message. As you back up your affirmation with appropriate consistent action, your subconscious will accept it as true and right for you. - Don't despair if you slip up.
- The old programs and habits are powerful. Just start again. It will get easier and easier as you reinforce new patterns more than the old ones.
- Give the process time.
- You may experience changes happening and opportunities presenting themselves quickly so be open and aware. On the other hand, it may take weeks, months, even years to fully realize your goal.
- You can only control yourself.
- Follow the golden rule and hold the best for others as you would want them to do for you.
Affirmations are about you, not someone else or what someone else has. In the long-run, this will backfire. Use these techniques on another's behalf only if it is something they desire and you do so in a spirit of unconditional love. - Take some kind of action toward your goal every day.
- Even small steps convince your mind and the universe that you believe in your goal and yourself and take you closer to achieving it. Think, feel and act as if your desire is on it's way.
- After you visualize and affirm your goal, release it.
- It's tricky to let go of attachment to outcome when you really want something. Yet this is one of the most important steps of how to visualize. This doesn't mean you don't work toward the goal. It means you don't cling and hold hard to it mentally or emotionally. Release it to the "universe". It will arrive in due time, unless there's something better in store.
A Personal Story
I have been surprised at how visualizing and affirming has shaped my own life. This has sometimes unfolded quite unexpectedly, even when I was not purposely visualizing and affirming. For a long time, I thought it would be nice to live in a certain town and drive a certain car. Because I had no attachment to to these wishes, my mind took in the images and comments easily. Truthfully, I didn't expect either desire to become a reality, nor did it really matter. I put no effort towards it. They were just things I thought would be nice. Whenever I drove through the town or saw that car I merely thought or said, "Oh it would be nice to live in this town/have that car." When the opportunity to live in that town arrived, I took the steps needed to make it happen. Without some upsetting, life-changing twists and turns in the interim, it probably wouldn't have happened. A few years later the car came available at an unbelievable price. Other wishes in my life I stressed over and tried to push? Didn't happen.
