Mind Powers and Levels of Consciousness

Your mind powers are powerful players in your quest for a healthy, happy life.

Tapping into the power of the mind can help you heal and create life on your own terms. Conversely, as is often the case, relying on your mind's programmed default settings can keep you stuck in the same belief systems, emotional reactions, and habits.  It all has to do with levels of consciousness and whether you use effective strategies to influence your mind to work to your advantage.

To use the power of your mind for healing and manifesting practices, a basic understanding of the three levels of consciousness and your innate mind power nuances and functions is very helpful.

Areas of the brain continuously work together and communicate with each other and the body using brain chemicals called neurotransmitters.

These chemicals control communications between the brain and the rest of the body via nerve cells.

In addition, research shows that individual cells within your body also have their own innate intelligence. Psychoneuroimmunology studies show how the immune system and the nervous system talk with your brain and how this relationship affects your health.

At its physical level, the brain has been likened to a 'neuro-chemical circuit board'. It receives, processes, records and transmit information. It has the capacity to store much more data than any computer. Some processes take time. Other mind powers, such as perceiving a distress trigger and signalling your body to begin the stress response can happen in a nanosecond.

You have only one brain, but within your brain are specific zones with specialized functions. The majority of your brain comprising the subconscious mind, operates outside your conscious awareness. Some processes you are very aware of.

Quantum physics suggests that universal energy waves have intelligence. It is possible that these waves carry the universal mind we all share and access. This is also known as the collective superconscious of the planet and beyond.

Three Levels of Consciousness

There is still much to be learned about the power of the mind and how the brain works.

Researchers generally accept that humans have two levels of consciousness. These include the conscious mind and the unconscious or subconscious mind. Some experts believe that we also have a superconscious mind.

If you accept the possibility that there is superconsciousness as part of the brain, and a universal superconsciousness that we can all access, then there may actually four levels of consciousness.

The Conscious Mind is the part of the brain we are most aware of. We use it for thinking, analyzing, imagining, setting goals, creating, learning something new, and short-term memory. It is the part of the brain you use when you hold a seven digit phone number in your head long enough to dial it before you forget it. Faster beta brain waves are usually associated with conscious functions. Although we may believe we make conscious decisions much of the time, this level of mind is only in charge about five percent of the time.

The Subconscious Mind makes up over 90 percent of your brain and runs approximately 95% of your mental functions. All your automatic processes are controlled unconsciously.

The subconscious mind carries out body functions as well as learned automatic behaviors and habits. It is the place of dreams, instincts, personal stored memories, ancestral memories, emotional awareness and belief systems.  Subconscious mind processes are many times more powerful and faster than your conscious powers.

Its mind powers are so powerful that the unconscious can heal your body. It can initiate a spontaneous healing of even serious diseases without any real medical intervention or conscious participation on your part. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true.

The Superconscious Mind is the source of some controversy. Some believe it exists, others consider it part of the subconscious mind. It is often associated with collective unconsciousness, which we all access in the quantum field.

The superconscious mind is associated with higher potential, creativity, intuition, quantum reality and spiritual awareness.

Dr Rick Levy, author of Miraculous Health illustrates the three levels of mind and how they relate to mind powers in this short video.

Mindbody Consciousness

Another factor in considering levels of mind beside the brain is the intelligence and mind powers of our body's cells.

The belief that mind powers and levels of consciousness belong to the brain alone is a belief of the past. We all experience bodymind intelligence. We know we are nervous because we get butterflies in our solar plexus.  We use expressions like, "I knew it in my gut," or "My hair stood on end and I got goosebumps when I heard that."

Dr. Bruce Lipton likens cells to miniature people. They have the same systems and receptors as skin so they can perceive their environment and the community of cells at large. They receive information from the brain and energy field and respond accordingly.

When we experience an emotion, our cells experience it as well through the energy vibrations and chemistry of the body. Each cell in the body functions independently and as a member of the community that makes up your body.

Other fields of study revolve around the innate intelligence of the heart and immune system. Scientists have found brain-like structures in systems throughout the body. The electro-magnetic field of the heart is many times stronger than that of the brain.

Some holistic practitioners use muscle testing to access the intelligence of the body directly while bypassing the interference of the conscious mind. Others may use pendulums, which really is a way of receiving information from the subconscious mind which sends tiny impulses to the fingers holding the cord.

Subconscious programming techniques help you influence and reprogram your mind to help you override old patterns and create new habits and possibilities. Releasing techniques can help you deprogram and shift outdated, sabotaging beliefs. These techniques help you positively influence your health and life without being at the total mercy of unconscious programming from childhood.

Mind powers and levels of consciousness are not only functions of the brain, but of the cells and systems of the body. There is much to learn about how these processes work. As more truths are uncovered you will be able to use that knowledge to help yourself heal and achieve your dreams.
