A Note from Val - New Year's Blessing

Happy New Year! May you have a blessed, happy, healthy 2013.

I wish you healing, abundant health and well-being.
May you be at peace with your past and have hope for the future
And embrace life with an open mind and an open heart.
May you feel empowered to achieve your dreams
And make the most of every day you are given.
May you experience the wonder of each moment
And share the blessing of your life with others.

Now that we put to rest the December 21st end of the world mania, we can turn our minds and hearts to the year ahead. Isn't it amazing, though, that the Mayans predicted the end of an age thousands of years in advance? The astrological understandings and calculations of the ancients never cease to amaze me.

Some new agers tie this date to a shift to more positive energy and consciousness for our planet. In light of the senseless shootings and tragedies of 2012, this is one prediction I deeply hope comes true. Predictions or not, I suspect it will only happen if we open our hearts and minds to it.

More on that next time.

January is National Hot Tea Month

Please join me in enjoying a cup of tea in honor of hot tea month.

Camellia sinensis (regular tea) and herbal teas are rich in health promoting anti-oxidants and other constituents. Tea drinking is a healthy habit you can feel good about enjoying in January and the whole year through!

In honor of national hot tea month and my January birthday, I treated myself to a Primula Flowering Tea Set.

The flowers are hand-tied green and jasmine tea leaves. Amazing how those dried up little balls open into big flowers. Flavorful and heavenly fragrant. So cool!

The removable glass infuser is much nicer for brewing loose herbs than my nasty looking mesh tea ball, too.

As you may have guessed, I'm a tea-aholic. My mug is always close by and refilled often. I enjoy all kinds of herbal blends.Wise Woman tea and Firefly Chai are two of my favorites. What are your favorites?

Want to brew your own herbal teas? It's easy. Learn how here (video). Enjoy.
