A Note from Val - You are not broken

“We can only ever be who we are, and at some point, that has to be good enough for us.”

Those words were spoken by contemporary thought leader Panache Desai on a recent episode of Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday. A lot of what he says reminds me of one of my favorite speakers, Neale Donald Walsh, author of Conversations with God. Their teachings resonate deeply with me, and I am always open to hearing more.

Panache’s message runs counter to most self improvement wisdom. He says that who we are is not broken; we do not need fixing or healing. He reminds us we are not our stories or our past. What we do need is to accept all of who we are. Why? Because when we judge our anger and fear, for instance, we judge ourselves out of our natural energetic state, out of our magnificence.

What we judge, we attack. When we judge our emotions as wrong, we deny the reality of how we feel. We stuff our emotions instead of allowing them to pass through us naturally. This changes our vibrational frequency. Stuck energy is heavy and its density forms a weight in the body.

Panache teaches that our humanity is our doorway to the divine, which has complete unconditional love and acceptance for us. He says all of life is a call into something greater, a call to recommit to what is important, and that we are being led home to ourselves.

Whether or not you accept the reality of the divine, there is great wisdom in his teaching.

When you are judgmental and deny your feelings because they are somehow 'wrong' according to___, you empower their version of yourself over your true self. This is a sure way to create stress and disharmony within. Stress in all its forms is a major contributor to illness and unhappiness. When your body is flooded with stress chemicals, healing goes on the back burner. Allowing and embracing even ‘undesirable things’ as an opportunity instead of a punishment, releasing your limiting beliefs, and opening to your unlimited potential with a spirit of trust creates a life of harmony and peace with nature and yourself.

It is also fact that you are an energy being with our own resonance, living in a vibrational universe. Everyone and everything is energy. Therefore, it makes sense that your greatest transformation occurs at the vibrational energy level.

As you've heard me say before, it boils down to being in a state of stress or love, expansion or constriction, energy flow versus stagnation. Meditation, chanting, even slowing down for just a few moments to put your hands on your heart while you slow and follow your breath can shift your energy and raise your vibration.

Learning to accept yourself unconditionally will free you from the burden of self abuse and low self-esteem. It will help you become more loving and compassionate toward yourself and others. Self acceptance is the starting place for personal transformation.
