A Note From Val

Happy February!

I'm hoping the month of hearts and love will be kinder and gentler than January was, and it's certainly promising to be busy. I have a lot of exciting news to share with you this month.

This Saturday, February 8th, I'll be signing/selling copies of my book, Rescue Me at our local SPCA's fundraising event and then again later in the month at a dog show to raise money for shelters and rescues. That should be fun! Take a look here.

Then, on February 17th, I will be a guest on two radio shows (I'll update you on those events when I get the details), the topic of the first will be wellness by design, and the second, self-forgiveness. Two things, forgiveness and gratitude, I have learned are the greatest gifts of love you can give to yourself and others-couldn't be a more perfect Valentine's gift. Speaking of forgiveness...

He Was Angry, Wouldn't You Be?

The 10 day EFT Tapping World Summit starts February 24th (get ready to tap away stress, emotional pain and more with top tapping experts), and is gearing up with video interviews, starting with Wayne Dyer.

At the age of 34, Wayne drove to Biloxi, Mississippi to visit the grave of his father, an alcoholic, abusive man who had abandoned him, his mother and two brothers the day he was born.

Although his father had died 10 years earlier, Wayne had only just found out about his death. He drove to the grave that day with a level of anger so great, so deep from years of hurt built up, that he went there with two tasks in mind: To find out if it was even acknowledged on his death certificate that Wayne was his son, and to literally "pee" on the grave of the father that he held all this hatred, anger and resentment towards for 34 years.

What came out of that visit however, completely and forever changed his life. It is one of the most beautiful stories you'll ever hear. It shares a message of forgiveness and it's power to transform that I think is truly life-changing and worth your time to listen to.

February Wellness Challenge

Every month, I suggest important, yet simple ways to make changes that help you get, and stay, healthier in the short and long-term. Best of all, many of these shifts do not require much thought once they are in place and often have positive effects for you, your family, and even our planet. They often involve substituting what is healthier for what is not, in mind, body and/or spirit. In the first few months, we will focus on limiting health damaging toxins that sneak their way into our bodies.

Last month, our focus was on limiting artificial sweeteners and what to use instead. Here's the link in case you missed it.

This month, we will continue our theme of 'detoxing' by zapping obesogens. Yup, those are the hormone disrupters that can make and keep you fat!

Favorite FB Tip

Hands down this is my favorite FB tip-EVER! Ok, you might think I'm weird, but I have really been enjoying this little scent-ual indulgence, especially with the dreary, cold winter we've been having. Guess it doesn't take much to make me happy.

When you get out a new roll of toilet paper, drizzle a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the cardboard tube. The oil will infuse the paper and each time you use it, you will get a whiff of the scent. Use a little eucalyptus if you have a stuffy nose-let the toilet paper do double duty for inhalation first, or a favorite lavender and/or citrus blend for instant de-stressing. Hmm, bet this trick would work well with a box of tissues, too.
