It doesn't seem real that school started last week. Seeing some of the girls coming in with their pretty dresses and for the most part smiles from all the little ones is always heartwarming. Of course, there are always just a few whose cries for mom or dad echo through the halls. The joys of primary school! On September 1st, I received the good news that Rescue Me won a Silver Medal in the 2014 Reader's Favorite International Book Awards in the non-fiction animals category. I feel so thankful that I decided to attend the award ceremony and book fair in Miami in November. Besides, this is a great excuse to fulfill my fantasy of lounging at the beach in the warmth and sunshine. Weather, please cooperate! On an unhappy note, this month's challenge, inspired by the death of comedian actor Robin Williams, is on relationships. With the season of holidays approaching it is a good time to refocus on those we love and deepen our connection to each other even more. September Wellness Challenge - Nurture RelationshipsAs I was ruminating about the topic of September’s challenge, the world was informed of the death of 63 year old Robin Williams. The news sent shock waves through our hearts as we learned that this profoundly talented man with a gift for making us laugh, think and feel deeply took his own life.Why he struggled with addiction and the severe depression that drove him to make that fateful choice is not for me to guess. What I do know is that most of us, at some time or other, have demons to fight. And I also know that during those times, having even just one someone who truly loves us or makes us feel safe enough to fully reveal ourselves is enough to keep us hanging on while we find our way through the darkness.
