Table of Contents1- Greetings from Val2- Natural Anxiety Relief 3- Tapping Summit Charity Event 4- Meet the Hambeys Greetings from ValHappy March! It’s funny how serendipitous life can be. The day before the Tapping Summit began, I was talking with a friend troubled by feeling like she was out of her body. She could trace the cause to an unpleasant event that occurred about a month before, and still had unresolved emotions around it. I myself had experienced that sensation before so I knew what she meant. It literally felt as though “I” began somewhere above my head and ended about mid-thigh.My legs felt disconnected from the rest of me. When I scanned my friend energetically, there was an abrupt change in the feeling of her energy at that point as well. Of course I suggested she sign up for the summit without delay and tap along. Well, wouldn’t you know it, of the five or six sessions I listened to, almost all the presenters mentioned the feeling of being out of body due to emotional disturbances and removing our attention from the present to a projected unwanted future or disturbing past experience. I took lots of notes on each session (they were really good!), and was given a wake up call during the session on anxiety with Dr. Kim D’Eramo. I’m no stranger to feeling anxious, especially the generalized always with you at a low-level kind that I feel whenever I'm trying to get things done or try something new. Still, I was surprised by how much releasing I did during the tapping part of that session. And how often I am not truly present in my body and don’t even realize it. What really nailed it were these words (paraphrased) “I’m not comfortable in my body so I spin out and try to stay in action, maybe checking my email or social media or looking for someone to connect with outside my body. I don’t really connect with my body. I’ve not been taught to just feel it. So uncomfortable, foreign, goes against everything I’ve been taught, I’ve been taught to abandon myself, to look outside me for the answers. Now it’s time to come back in.” Have you ever felt like that? Anxiety and Anxiety ReliefAnxiety is part of our lives, a symptom of modern living. Anytime something is unfamiliar, the brain goes on alert and sends a signal. When the alarm sounds, regardless if the threat is real or perceived, rational or irrational, cortisol and other hormones are released, creating a sense of anxiety. As you may know, that alarm system, and our response to it, sometimes get carried away.Dr. D'Eramo says that at the root of anxiety is the fear of death, that we are going to die or be “obliterated”. Oftentimes, we are projecting our energy, attention and fears into an unwanted aspect of the future or looking back to relive past mistakes and traumas. When anxious feelings arise, we may do all kinds of crazy things - from behaving inappropriately to refusing to go outside to avoiding social situations to procrastinating. You may have heard that more people fear public speaking than death. When anxious, you are not present in your bodies in an energetic, mind-state sense, or to the present moment. You may feel light-headed and ungrounded. Depending on how big a threat the brain perceives, other stress symptoms such as tunnel vision, sweaty palms, shallow breathing may intensify, fueling your anxious feelings and make you feel even more anxious. Not only can anxiety compromise your everyday quality of life, it can compromise your health. Clinical studies show that stress chemicals associated with anxiety attack your DNA and turn on genes responsible for diabetes, cancer, obesity and even heart disease. Many real physical symptoms bringing people to emergency rooms, such as chest pain and shortness of breath have their roots in anxiety. If and when the emotional disturbance is resolved, the symptoms disappear. The good news is that anxious feelings can be managed and tamed. Continue reading about natural anxiety relief here. Tapping Summit Charity EventA special thank you if you are one of many who took part in the Tapping Summit this year. I promote the summit because it is so helpful and is a great value. I hope you got a lot of healing and wisdom from it.Every year the Ortner family at Tapping Solutions has a special event for a few days right after the Summit when 100% of the proceeds (up to $25,000) from upgrades goes toward supporting the Tapping Solutions Foundation.
