Greetings from Val

Hello and Happy November!

We had quite a scare at my house recently.

For the last three months, my husband, unbeknownst to me, had been having chest pains whenever he exerted himself. Why didn't he tell me? "I didn't want you to worry. I made an appointment with the cardiologist and have to wait until Nov 3rd to get in without a referral."

"Seriously? I'm your wife", I said, "I should know these things..." This snippet of the conversation took place three weeks ago. Of course, my mind rolodexed all the possible things it could be, but he insisted (and was right) that it was angina like his father had. Not knowing how bad it was, I got him on baby aspirin (thumbs up from the doc on that one) and a few other supplements.

The doc agreed with Scott and sent him right to the hospital for admission and a cardiac catheterization. Turns out he had a 90 percent blockage that required a stent. He's now on meds and improving his diet-like I've been encouraging him to do for years. Learning you were months a way from a major heart attack is quite a wake-up call and a scare.

Thanks-giving

With the holidays fast approaching I am mindful of the spiritual aspects of holistic health and healing. The hub-bub may be around cooking, cleaning and shopping, and that’s all good, but the real heart of this time of year for me is thanks-giving and relationship. It is a time for me to connect with family, friends, and Spirit. It is time to give the gifts of extra kindness, forgiveness (of myself and others), patience and gratitude.

In the U.S. we are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 24th, but no matter where in the world you are, I encourage you to spend a day focusing on what you appreciate and are grateful for. Remember the little things like breathing, your electronics and the ability to read. Not such little things are they?

What I am most grateful for this year is my family. I am also grateful for modern medicine. People often assume I am against it because I focus so much on natural healing, but that has not the case at all. Although I criticize its shortcomings and dangers, I have a deep appreciation for allopathy when it comes to treating emergencies and life-threatening conditions.

It gave my mother an extra 45 years of life (breast cancer) and just last week saved my husband from a growing blockage that was months away from causing a heart attack. Am I feeling grateful? You bet.

Survey and Chance for a $10 Gift Card

Would you do me a very big favor and take two minutes to fill out a short survey? I would love to know more about what is important to you and what you are most interested in learning more about in the coming months.

Some of the questions/statements are a bit thought-provoking. I discovered a few things about myself just for writing them. I hope you find the experience enlightening as well.

Also, because I am feeling drawn to expand more into the personal evolution and spiritual aspects of holistic healing within and beyond ourselves, it will help me to know how important this is to you.

Here are your questions.

Thank you, I really appreciate you and your honest responses. (no judgments here so don’t go there) Your name is not attached to your responses so that part is anonymous. I only need your name and email if you want a chance to get one of the gift cards.

Speaking of...In the spirit of thanks and giving, I am gifting a $10 Amazon gift card to three lucky people who complete the survey before 12 pm (ET) Tuesday, Nov.22nd. All names will go “in the hat” on Tuesday evening. I hope I’ll be sending one to you!

Take me to the survey.
