Temperatures in the U.S. may be cold all over but I hope your hearts and homes are warm and full of love. Did you know that while English may have only one word for love, the Greeks distinguish between several types of love. In February, we tend to focus on "eros" or romantic love thanks to Valentine's day which to a lesser extent also extends to include "storge", or loving affection for friends, family, and pets.
These types of love can be satisfying and healing in their own right, but are supercharged when "agape" love forms their foundation. The same holds true for "philautia" or self-love. Agape is the unconditional love that is inclusive, kind, compassionate, and free of criticism, blame, and resentment. It is the type of love that describes the innate, authentic nature of the Divine and our souls. Feels good, doesn't it? Close your eyes, put your hands on your heart and take a deep breath on that thought. Let it in.

Learning how to love yourself unconditionally is a key to lasting health and happiness. Practicing extreme self care is an important part of showing yourself this kind of love. If you are ill or unhappy (and even if you aren't), showing yourself and others agape love makes life healthier and happier for everyone. The universal law of cause and effect and the law of reciprocity, or sowing and reaping, will make it so. It can make a significant difference in your recovery and sense of well-being, as well as the quality of your relationships.
