power of love, power of mantras, conversation invitation
September 14, 2020
Hello Dear Friends
Have you ever just sat back and observed how people react and respond? I have always been curious about the whys and hows of human behavior. One of these behaviors is the bandwagon effect.
Research shows that it only takes a few individuals to get the many on the bandwagon with them. They inspire, entice, and incite the many to join them, for better or worse. Listen for it in commercials - "Join the many who..." You’ve seen and done this - one person claps followed by a tentative one or two more, then the entire audience joins in enthusiastic applause. It's an ingrained human program that can overtake us before we are even realize what is happening to us.
To my dismay, one bandwagon statement recently circulated among spiritually-minded teachers and leaders is that this is not the time for love and light. It’s the time for speaking up, for taking action (as if the two were mutually exclusive). Well, I respectfully disagree. This is precisely the time for love and light.
Now, to be fair, I presume (hope) what they really mean, but did not say, is that we need to do more than just sprinkle the fairy dust platitude of “love and light” on difficult situations and the wrongful treatment of others. To do so is nothing more than a feel-good spiritual bypass taken before bee-bopping along with our usual ways of thinking and being while changing nothing.
But by only saying this, a vital point is being omitted, one we would all do well to hear.
Real love is more than a nicety, more than a feeling. It is dynamic and active. It accepts, forgives, exemplifies kindness, takes self-responsibility, encourages transformation, includes everyone in all forms in its circle, speaks the truth, shares, serves from the heart, is peaceful in mind and deed, and acts with compassion toward all beings.
Love does not harbor resentment or tolerate ignorance, bigotry, oppression, cruelty or injustice toward anyone in any form. It is free of self-serving egoic agendas and opinions.
As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said,
“Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”
In its purest form, agape love is beyond our human understanding and capacity. Yet it is within our reach because it lies at the heart of our souls, the divine spark within each of us. When we let it, Love wakes up the unconscious parts of ourselves and removes the ego from its throne. By stepping into the power of our true true Self within, we can tap into its energy and its power of Love and Light to heal ourselves and our world. With its wisdom and guidance, we can make our lives here on Earth feel more like heaven than hell, not just for ourselves, but for all with whom we share this planet.
This is what I mean when I say “Love and Light”. It is a call to let your soul have its way with you.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
Be the Light. Let your Light shine.
The Power of Mantras to Transform and Heal
Do you believe that words have power? I do.
Whether thought, spoken, or sung, our voices matter more than we know.
In the ancient wisdom traditions of India, mantras, the repetition of specific sounds, are used to invoke peace, healing, and personal transformation. The combination of intention, concentration, and the physical vibration of the words positively affect our inner being by shaping our thoughts and, as an effect, our actions.
Here is a mantra I particularly like and do my best to live by (in English).
"Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu"
(low-kaah'-ha suh-muh-staah'-ha soo-khee-no' bhuh'-vun-too)
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
Imagine what our relationships and our world would be like if everyone began their days with this intention. What would your life be like? How would you/do you contribute to the happiness and freedom for others?
I made a short video about this a few years ago. It is just as relevant now as it was then. I invite you to listen and add your voice in the comments.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTvEORItmps
A Conversation Invitation
If opening yourself to more love, light, and positive action on behalf of yourself and others resonates with you, I invite you to have a conversation with me about your heart's desires.(Dates: Friday, June 12-Tues, June 16th, 2020)
If this sounds interesting to you, schedule a time to chat here. (link expired, but if you want to chat, contact me using the contact form)
This is not a selling call!
I have two aims for this conversation. First, I am interested in hearing about your dreams and challenges. Second, I am also interested in your feedback about a coaching method I'm creating before I develop it further.
This conversation is a a win-win. We will both gain clarity and the opportunity to get to know each other better, two priceless gifts.
FYI: The 1:1 method I'm developing draws from coaching processes I've learned over the years for people who would benefit from co-creating an individualized holistic foundation upon which to launch or sustain their heart and soul-led quest. I believe that purpose-driven people can free up the inner power needed to fulfill their mission in life by clarifying their heart's desires, plugging energy drains, having a support structure, cultivating their “superpowers”, and navigating through fears and challenges.
Schedule your call here.
If you have trouble with the scheduler, please contact me via this email so I can assist you.
