I think it's helpful to spend a bit of time now and again contemplating how we intend to be in this precious life we have been given. New Year’s is a good time to set the stage for this kind of reflection. It’s a good time to wipe the slate clean. To let go of or reaffirm shelved dreams and forgotten goals, to reignite ongoing intentions and welcome new ones to take form.Research shows that when you write down your goals, dreams, and intentions, you are more likely to follow through on them. When you share them with supportive others, you improve your chances of success even more. So, here are my 2019 intentions, written and shared with you. I intend to expand my sense of inner freedom to be my authentic self in the world, to let my light shine brighter. It is my heart’s desire to enjoy expressing myself with ease, confidence, clarity, and love. To feel free to be authentic as I put myself out there and have fun doing it. To embrace and join with those who align with my mission and calling. To bless and feel okay about those who choose to focus their time and attention elsewhere. It’s all good. I intend to treat my mind, body, and spirit with love and reverence. My body is my physical home, a temple for the Spirit within, the vehicle that makes it possible for me to experience life and fulfill my purpose in the world. It deserves the very best care I can give it. To do this, I intend to be more conscientious the foods I eat, get enough of the right types of exercise to be fit and feel good, to sleep enough, and to rest and relax when my body and mind call for it. It also means I will guard what goes into my mind in the forms of media and drama and fill it with messages of love, possibility, and joy. I really want to meditate more regularly as this has a calming, centering effect on my mind and body. I intend to tune in more deeply with my higher self, the stirrings of my soul, and the energy that pervades the natural world. I feel closest to the Divine in nature. That is where I best connect my inner and outer worlds, where I intuit guidance, wisdom, and love. I intend to spend more quiet time alone in nature just listening, meditating, and being still. Tangible intentions: **finish my book tentatively titled Humans, Animals, and God and get it published in 2019. I’m almost to the finish line of writing and self-editing this huge project. Then I will be calling on my beta readers for feedback (followed no doubt by more editing). **complete my coaching certification. I “should” have done this a few years ago when I was fully in the process. Now I am retaking a few classes and having fun coaching practice players. So again, it’s all good. **start my volunteer training and work with the Humane Society as an advocate, a voice for the voiceless. **Of course, my usual intentions are also in motion- spend quality time with the family (which means lots of traveling), releasing excess weight, living lighter on the planet (need to work on these two), and so on. I am so happy to be “retired” so I can put my full focus on intentions that have taken a back seat for so many years. Life is a miracle. I want to make the most of mine and help others in all forms do the same. What are your intentions? Let your heart speak as well as your mind. Write them down and revisit them throughout the year. Just reply to this newsletter if you'd like to share them with me. I’ll read them, send a prayer and light energy for your success, and write you a note to cheer you on.
