Hi! I'm Val Silver.
My mission is to encourage you to enjoy creating a healthier, happier life for yourself and others by embracing your healing potential and stepping into the power of your true self. I believe that when you heal yourself, you heal the world and when you heal the world, you heal yourself. I am coming to understand at deeper levels how this stems from a healthy love of self, others, our Earth home, and the Source of life, What we truly love we take care of from the highest, purest, most authentic part of ourselves. What we give, we receive in like energy.
A few years ago, one of my coaching clients (a counselor) told me that I was good at listening and helping people with their problems. He surmised that I had obviously worked on so many of my own issues that I wasn’t afraid to help people face theirs and resolve them. He was right.
After spending years of hinging my happiness star on others, and literally watching my body age from the stress of a divorce and relationship losses, I realized and accepted the fact that my state of happiness and wellness could only come from inside me. I was responsible for my own well-being. It was then that I began my holistic self-care journey in earnest.
As I learned and observed the benefits of holistic mindbody wellness techniques in myself and others, When you release limiting beliefs, accept responsibility for our healing path, extend loving kindness to ourselves and others, and take our authentic selves out of hiding that life is richer. You feel happier, healthier, more fulfilled, more at peace and in control of your own life. Your sense of self and inner freedom expands so you are more likely to notice opportunities, accept challenges, and move forward in all areas of your life with greater ease.
I also learned that life and wellness is a journey and an evolution. There are extreme challenges to face and joys to be savored, as well as the 'everydayness of life'. And with all of that comes deeper levels of healing and growing as we walk the path of life.
One of those challenges showed up for me as a ruptured disk in my back on top of two previous whiplashes from car accidents. The rupture left me with fairly extensive nerve damage, pain issues and physical limitations. A lot of 'love and accept myself and my body' healing work took place during the years as I faced this challenge and the adjustments it demands in my life.
One day as I was lying in bed feeling sorry for myself because of pain, I realized I was riding the spiral into depression. This was my point of choice. I made the decision to forgive my body for 'failing me' and the medical people for 'steering me wrong'. I decided to adjust and be thankful for what is, and make the best of it. Thankfully, my mind and body have done a lot of healing since these incidents took their toll but self-care and mindfulness are still priorities or else.
Unlike my divorce days, when I felt like I was at the mercy of my negative emotions, stress, and circumstances, I now have a toolbox full of well used spiritual and energy healing techniques to help me shift my perspective and embrace my life.
So yes, I can tell you that the techniques I share really do work. And I know how to work with them. I’m my own best living example.

"I just wanted to say how incredible EFT has been for me. With Val's help it has unraveled many years of stored hurt and negative emotions in me. It has helped me get over a very difficult relationship as well. I'm still very much a work in progress but with EFT my progress is in leaps and bounds. Thank you Val"
I live in Northern New York near Lake Ontario with my husband and our adorable rescue Shi-tzu/Bichon Frise dog, Teddy. I share Teddy's story in my book, Rescue Me: Tales of Rescuing the Dogs Who Became Our Teachers, Healers, and Always Faithful Friends. This book marries my love of dogs and healing. As a fundraiser, it is my way of giving back to the animals and their caregivers who bless and heal our lives in so many ways.
Between us, my husband and I have four grown children who have blessed us with 11 grandchildren.
For 18 years, I taught reading recovery to struggling first graders. It was challenging and rewarding - in some ways very much like coaching people to embrace and show up as their best selves!
Now that I am retired from school teaching, I am happy to fully devote myself to my passions for holistic wellness of mind, body, and spirit. I joined the board of the Kripalu Yoga and Wellness Center of NNY in 2017 and am responsible for our on-line presence and very much enjoy volunteering as an energy healer at our monthly "Healing Sunday".
When the weather allows, I enjoy riding my bicycle, taking walks and chatting with my neighbors. I like to curl up with a good book, watch TV, or enjoy a movie while sipping a cup of hot herbal tea. Of course there’s also social media and surfing the web in search of pearls of wisdom to keep me busy. Join me on my facebook page.
Since publishing this website in 2009, I have spent a lot of time writing and publishing articles on personal wellness and healing of ourselves and others through compassionate action. That’s been a lot of fun- especially getting to meet and engage with you, my readers. I’ve even posted a few videos-I'm definitely not a pro in that department but I hope you enjoy them and learn from them.
Currently, I'm working on my new book titled Humans, Animals and God. It's my search for the truth about what sages, scriptures and ancient traditions teach about our relationship with non-human beings and ultimately ourselves. I'm exploring topics such as interconnection, meat-eating, dominion, and animal welfare from ancient, spiritual, historical, and scientific perspectives. I hope to have the book published in 2019.
Keep up to date on the book, upcoming video releases and articles and more here. This is also where you sign up to get all Holistic Mindbody Healing subscriber freebies.
